CLASSIC WESTERN TROUT FISHING WITH A CANADIAN TWIST

Join Nomada Fly Fish as we travel to Calgary, Alberta, Canada, to pound the banks of the Bow River in search of trophy-sized browns and rainbows.
The Bow harbors an estimated 3,000 trout per mile—averaging 16 inches—yet remains significantly less pressured than many of its US regional counterparts. Easily accessible from anywhere in the US via the Calgary International Airport, this unique fishery provides multiple daily float options across several distinct beats. Because the Bow relies entirely on 100% wild recruitment, every fish you hook is a hard-fighting native-born brawler—no stockers here. You can fish the Bow right through its city limits in Calgary, or drift through its sprawling grassland prairie setting downstream that will make you forget you are minutes from a metropolitan area. On this adventure, you are unlikely to fish the same water twice.
We partner exclusively with the first-rate, friendly, and knowledgeable team at Dave Brown Outfitters to ensure a world-class guiding experience. Guests will stay at the comfortable and convenient Carriage House Inn, which features an on-site restaurant and bar, as well as a complimentary continental breakfast. For added convenience, a local fly shop and multiple dining options, ranging from fast-casual to fine dining, are just a short walk away.
Our days begin with a quick bite at the hotel before the guides pick us up. Fishing will primarily be done from a drift boat, but there are excellent opportunities to wet wade, meaning waders are entirely unnecessary this time of year. Angling techniques on the Bow are incredibly versatile, ranging from tossing topwater terrestrials and streamers on weighted lines to dead-drifting indicator nymphing rigs. Guides provide lunch on the water. Upon returning to the hotel each evening, we can plan a group dinner at a nearby eatery.
If you’re searching for a top-notch western trout trip that’s a great value, join Nomada on the Bow River!
